On Saturday evening, 7th of October, the SoNote production team invites you to the cozy Burgh house, which was built during the reign of Queen Anne in 1704, where you can immerse yourself in the soft atmosphere of jazz and poetry. The enchanting sounds of the harp, cello and flute will take you to the magical world of music, and the voice of the poetess will awaken your deepest dreams.
n the first part of the evening, there will be english romantic poetry accompanied by a harp. Following this, there will be Russian romantic poetry accompanied by cello and flute. Lastly, we will offer the unique experience of reading any or presenting your own poems accompanied by cello and flute.
Alina Bzhezhinska will start the concert with her magic music. Undoubtedly she is one of the leading harpists in the world today, Alina (a.k.a AlinaHipHarp) is a one-woman powerhouse on a mission to bring the harp to the fore of contemporary sound. From Royalty to the jazz greats of today - Alina has performed at the late 80th Birthday and the King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand; she collaborated with world top artists Kamaal Williams, DJ Spinna (NYC), Slide Johnson (Paris), Tony Kofi and Shabaka Hutchings. Alina Bzhezhinska appeared at WOMADelaide Festival in Australia, live performances for BBC Radio 3 and Worldwide FM followed along with appearances at Edinburgh International Festival, North Sea Jazz Festival, Royal Albert Hall, Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre, Cadogan Hall for EFG London Jazz fest 2021, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club. Alina has been nominated for Best Live Experience of the Year at the 2018 Jazz FM Awards and was a winner of Presto Music Award 2022. Bzhezhinska also runs a charity to support her home country, Ukraine.
Maria Chamberlain - TV and radio journalist, cultural observer worked on the TV channel "Kultura", "BBC Russian Service", was the author and presenter of the program "Chamberlain's Answer", in the early 2000s began to publish in London newspapers, collaborated with the publications "London-Info", "Lady-Info", EEMedia group. During her journalistic career she has recorded more than 200 interviews with prominent political figures, such as Margaret Thatcher, as well as with prominent cultural figures, including Charles Aznavour. Mary Chamberlain is the author of the poetry collections Shards and Singularity, and the short story collection Ant Ice Cream.
Beautiful cello and flute sound will be performed by Alexandra Somova and Valerie Wiesztal.
In the interval we will offer guests a trip back to 1720, when the Burgh House was owned by Dr. William Gibbons. In those early days, the house had a natural spa and it is said that Dr. Gibbons was the first to advise visitors to drink Hampstead's mineral water for wellness. We will offer our guests not only mineral water, but also sparkling wine and other refreshments. In the final part of the evening, we will give the audience the opportunity to come on stage and recite the work of a favorite poet or their own poem accompanied by flute and cello.
